Birds watched flying SE across the Bay , most picked up close inshore by Thurlestone Rock , none were seen to fly back ,The really big question is how many birds were involved- out of the 39 logged

Mon 22 AUG - Update 25 AUG

Latest information from Nick T - Nat Trust have now got the necessary licence to carry out the replacement outlet pipe , they are awaiting a start date from the Contractor .

SOUTH HUISH MARSH -

Today is a milestone for this Devon Birds site - I have records going back to 2002and today is a sad reflection on what this site used to be . The outlet pipe has been blocked for most of the summer resulting in the Marsh being flooded and a very high rate of growth in the foliage . The farmer will not put the Highland Cattle onto the marsh because of the high water level - there are no muddy fringes to the shore line .

National Trust are no nearer to making a decision on when they will carry out the installation of a new outlet pipe - hopefully it will be this autumn .

The milestone I referred to- it is my first ever August visit when I did not record a single Wader on the marsh - at this prime migration period
